I know it is hard to believe but this is what a survey claims. A survey was conducted by the medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF) in collaboration between the Kashmir University’s Department of Psychology, and the valley-based Institute of Mental Health Neuroscience (IMHANS).
The survey claims around 1.8 million adults, which is about 45% of the population, in the Kashmir Valley show symptoms of significant mental distress.
According to the survey,
People who exhibit symptoms of probable depression = 41%,
People who show symptoms of probable anxiety = 26%
People who show symptoms of probable Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) = 19%
